Your first tournament feels enormous the night before and obvious the moment it starts. Here is what actually happens on the day, so nothing catches you off guard.
Before the whistle
Arrive early. Check your drone the way a pilot checks an aircraft: props tight, battery charged, controller bound, spare parts in the bag. The teams that panic on match day are the ones that skipped this.

Then breathe. Everyone in the room started exactly where you are.
During the match
Play your role
If you are the striker, patience beats speed — wait for the gap your defenders open. If you are defending, hold your lane and trust your striker. Chaos is the losing team's strategy.
Talk constantly
The best teams sound like a cockpit: short, clear calls. "Left open." "Reset." "Go." Silence is how goals get scored on you.
Between rounds
You will have a few minutes to reset. Swap the battery, check the cage, and agree on one thing to change. Do not rebuild your whole plan — adjust one lever and run it back.
You will lose a round and learn more from it than from the three you won.
The mindset that wins
Consistency wins tournaments, not highlight plays. Land the simple pass, defend your lane, and let the other team make the mistakes.
